Community Partnership
Partner with Lightspeed Systems to form a community-wide online safety program
- FREE Lightspeed Guide filtering software
- FREE co-branded educational website
- FREE promotional material
- Optional community presentation
Lightspeed Systems protects millions of K-12 students from inappropriate web content, malware, and more while at school. But learning isn’t limited to school hours—and learning at home takes students online more and more.
Now your school can partner with Lightspeed Systems to promote a community-wide online safety solution. Initially the focus is on jointly providing home Internet filtering and reporting – with an eye on expanding to include
cyber-bullying prevention, collaboration tools, and more.
The concept is founded on these premises:
A large percentage of students have access to the Internet at home--and in some districts this is actively encouraged with online educational resources, teacher web sites, online grade access, and/or 1:1 computing initiatives.
Many districts provide excellent, free information to parents and encourage a wide range of good Internet safety practices (e.g., home filtering software, monitoring student behavior, teaching ethical behavior).
And finally, among many other things, parental engagement with schools is vital to educational success.
Should you choose to partner with us, Lightspeed Systems will:
- Provide Lightspeed Guide filtering and reporting software free of charge.
- Develop a customized co-branded educational website, in conjunction with you, to provide information about Internet safety, how to download/install the Lightspeed Guide, your acceptable-use policies, and
other information as necessary to inform families as to the nature and purpose of this program. See sample website.
- Develop a handout suitable for distribution at back-to-school nights, PTA/PTO meetings, and similar venues explaining the importance of the program. See sample flyer.
- Develop an Internet safety presentation for students and parents (if desired).
- Provide content for optional inclusion in district website, acceptable use policies, and press releases.
- Provide all user support to families deploying the Lightspeed Guide. At a minimum, Lightspeed Systems will provide comprehensive online information and email support.
And here’s what we’d need from you:
- Distribute information about the program to parents and students as appropriate.
- Assist Lightspeed Systems with the development of appropriate informational materials and program evaluation as necessary.
- ssist with program evaluation in January and June 2008.
